The Department of Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE), Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology (FAST), invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Biomedical Engineering Area of Specialization.

We seek dynamic and research oriented academics with strong expertise in emerging areas of biomedical engineering, particularly in biosensors and bioelectronics, including the design and development of advanced nano-biosensors for biomedical applications. The ideal candidate should demonstrate substantial knowledge in nanomaterials for sensing applications, nanomedicine, and innovative drug delivery systems, with the ability to translate fundamental research into clinically and industrially relevant solutions. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to interdisciplinary research integrating materials science, bioengineering, and translational healthcare technologies. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to high-impact research, graduate-level teaching, supervision of Master’s and PhD students, and development of externally funded research programs aligned with biomedical innovation and translational engineering.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related relevant field
  • Strong research background in biosensing technologies, nano-enabled biomedical systems, bioelectronics, nanomedicine, or advanced drug delivery
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-PhD research/teaching experience preferred
  • Proven publication record in reputable international journals (SCOPUS-indexed)
  • Demonstrated potential to secure external research funding
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research integrating engineering, materials science, and biomedical sciences
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
  • Commitment to graduate-level teaching and curriculum development
  • Ability to establish collaborations with hospitals, research centers, industry, and international agencies

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Graduate-level teaching in subject areas including but not limited to:
    • Biosensors and Bioelectronics
    • Nano-biosensors and Nano-enabled Diagnostic Systems
    • Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications
    • Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery Systems
    • Biomedical Signal & Sensing Technologies
  • Teaching a minimum of 3 courses per academic year
  • Supervision of master’s and PhD students
  • Development of funded research projects and laboratory programs
  • Building interdisciplinary collaborations with medical institutions and research centers
  • Participation in outreach, student recruitment, and research network development

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in both teaching and innovative interdisciplinary research that complements and strengthens the Biomedical Engineering initiatives within ISE and FAST.

The appointment will be initially for two years, with strong possibility of extension based on performance. The salary is regionally competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
