Application is invited for the position of Adjunct faculty (Part-time) in Public Policy at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Pathumthani, Thailand. AIT is an international, non-profit post- graduate institution, promoting technological change and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region through higher learning focusing on critical global issues through research and outreach capacity development. Establish in 1959, AIT became a leading regional institution actively working with public and private sector partners throughout the region and with some of the top universities in the world. The institute offers Master and Doctoral degrees, a diploma and certificate program in interdisciplinary studies to students from different disciplines such as sociology, geography, economics, engineering, science, planning and management, and serves over 27,000 students from Asia and beyond. Its faculty members and students composes of more than 40 different nationalities and ethnic backgrounds from a unique international community in the institute’s residential campus situated 42 Kilometers north Bangkok.

The Public Policy academic program (PPP) is offered under the Faculty of Public Policy (FPP). The academic program aims to prepare the post graduate students with expertise in policy analysis, regulatory design, public finance, governance and institutional reform, stakeholder engagement, and policy impact assessment to address the global challenges across key policy domains, including technology, environment, climate change, development, social policy, and economic governance, etc.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of the Public Policy academic program curriculum, including program framework design, international benchmarking with comparable programs, and preparation of course syllabi for internal academic approval.
  • Design and implement marketing, promotion, and student recruitment activities, including preparation of promotional materials, website and brochure content, social media inputs, and the organization of public talks, seminars, and online information sessions.
  • Initiate and facilitate academic, organizational, and governmental partnerships, including coordination of public talks and seminars, and exploration of opportunities for policy labs, internships, and applied or collaborative research.
  • Support the development and submission of scholarship and funding proposals to national and international donors to support student scholarships and program-related financial assistance.
  • Develop course materials and deliver one to two courses and provide academic supervision and mentoring to students within the Public Policy Program.

Qualifications:

  • The applicant should have PhD  in Public Policy or a closely related field, such as economics, environmental science, political science, social sciences, , interdisciplinary studies, etc., and should have demonstrated research interest and experience in public policy–related fields.
  • Should have demonstrated experience in public policy–related work, including curriculum development
  • Shouls have and skills and experiences in academic program marketing and promotion, partnerships, stakeholder engagement and student recruitment.
  • Should be able to teach  one or two elective courses in the field of public policy, with the focus on the fields of technology and environmental sustainablity or socio-economic development socio-economic development policy and economics, as well as other relevant courses aligned with the Public Policy Program (PPP) requirements and the candidate’s area of specialization.
  • Experience in working with government and other policy oriented organizations is an advantage.

Required Deliverables for the First 6 Months

  1. Support the development of Public Policy academic program framework and course syllabi for internal academic approval processes (Months 1–2).
  2. Program promotional content, including promotional materials, and social media content (Month 3).
  3. Public talks / information sessions and a list of academic and organisation and governmental partners (Months 4–5).
  4. Academic and policy partner engagement activities, including initial collaborations and outreach (Months 5–6).

Appointment:

The appointment will be as Adjunct Faculty. The initial appointment is normally for one year and is renewable based on the insitute’s needs and the candidate’s performance. The salary offered to the successful candidate is regionally competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
