The Taylor and Francis journal, GTD, hosted by GDS, AIT is looking for a new managing editor. Gender, Technology and Development is a journal that just celebrated its 28th year anniversary. The journal is growing rapidly and fast, becoming a leader in gender and development research globally. Its current Scopus CiteScore rating is at 3.5 and Impact Factor 1.8. An international, referred journal, Gender, Technology and Development serves as a forum for exploring the linkages between gender relations, development and/or technological change. The objective of the journal is to provide a platform for original research and theorizing on the shifting meanings of gender, as it relates to advances in science and technologies and/or to social, political, economic, and cultural change. The managing editor is primarily responsible to ensure that the review process is in place and meets time requirements. |
Responsibilities
- Monitor the online review system (editorial manager) and ensure that any delays are addressed
- Conduct technical checks of all new papers (that papers meet the journal reference style with the needed documents)
- Assign papers that pass technical checks to associate editors, and co-editors
- Find and assign new reviewers in collaborations with all relevant editors
- Ensure timely communications with and from editors, authors and reviewers
- Consult with Taylor and Francis for system maintenance and defects
- Ensure that late reviews, revisions or acceptance are followed with reminders
- Coordinate and participate in the two annual editors' meetings
- Supervise student assistants working on journal management duties
- Assist Editorial team in promotion of the journal and related social media presence
- Consult with and report to the co-editors-in-chief
- Any other journal administrative tasks as identified by the co-editors-in chief
Job qualifications
- Master's degree, with a preference in related development studies, or other social sciences
- Good knowledge and command of the English language
- Demonstrate high level of independence (especially in terms of problem solving)
- Show high work ethics
- Demonstrate teamwork experience
- Show effective and polite communication capabilities

The start date is as soon as possible; the announcement will remain until the position is filled. The initial appointment will be on 1 November 2025 and renewable upon passing the probation period of 3 months. Health insurance, visa and work permit is covered in the remuneration package.
