About Asian Institute of Technology- Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (AIT RRC.AP)

The Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) is an institute-wide, multi-disciplinary Centre of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) that works throughout the region helping key stakeholders adapt cutting edge science into practical solutions for improved environmental outcomes. Three thematic clusters focusing on reducing air pollution, lessening climate change impacts, and promoting sustainable waste management work to develop the capacity of key stakeholders and contribute to the achievement of international initiatives and frameworks.

About the Waste and Resource Management Cluster (WaRM Cluster)

The waste and resource management cluster (WaRMC) is one of the three thematic clusters at AIT RRC.AP that serves as the policy – research interface - connecting the scientific understanding of waste issues with sound policies. Our mission is to “contribute towards the achievement of sustainable waste management by promoting holistic waste management through 3Rs, waste innovations, and sound policy and novel practices with relevance to the global and regional environmental frameworks.” Working towards the mission, WaRMC offers a wide range of services including research and assessment to provide policy support, build capacities of the stakeholders, generate and disseminate knowledge, network and build a partnership, organize high-level meetings, and deploy the environmentally sound technologies as demonstration projects. The WMC work on promoting sustainable waste management in the region in partnership with a network of global, regional, national, and local stakeholders from the UN and others, including Asian Development Bank, Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), OECD, Ocean Conservancy, the Ministry of Environment Japan IGES, NIES, Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) etc.

About the Role

As part of our efforts to enhance our outreach and communication strategies, we are seeking to hire a Programme Officer who will be responsible for media and branding activities, graphic design, infographic creation, animation, and editing tasks. The incumbent is expected to report to the Head of WaRMC, and assist in the implementation of WaRMC project activities.

Scope of Work

The Programme Officer (Media and Branding) will be primarily responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing media strategies to promote the organization's initiatives and projects.
  • Creating and maintaining the organization's branding guidelines and ensuring consistency across all communication materials.
  • Designing graphics, infographics, and visual content for various communication channels, including social media, websites, reports, and presentations.
  • Editing written content for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with the organization's messaging and branding.

General Responsibilities

The Programme Officer (Media and Branding) will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop media plans and campaigns to raise awareness about the organization's activities and achievements.
  • Design and produce visually appealing materials such as posters, brochures, banners, and digital content with animation.
  • Create engaging infographics to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Edit written content, including reports, articles, press releases, and website content, to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to branding guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and content for media and branding initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in media, branding, graphic design, and editing.

Expected Outputs of Role

The Programme Officer (Media and Branding) is expected to achieve the following outputs:

  • Develop and execute media campaigns that increase the RRCAP's visibility and impact.
  • Establish and maintain a strong brand identity that reflects the RRCAP's values and objectives.
  • Produce high-quality graphics and infographics that effectively convey key messages and data.
  • Ensure that all written content is well-written, error-free, and aligned with the organization's communication goals.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the organization's communication and outreach efforts through creative and strategic input aligned with AIT institute wide branding policy.

Other duties as assigned by the Head of the Waste and Resource Management cluster and the Director.

Required Competencies

  • Media Expertise: Proficiency in various media channels including digital, print, and social media platforms. Knowledge of media trends, audience engagement strategies, and content creation techniques.
  • Graphic Design Skills: Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools. Ability to create visually appealing graphics, logos, and branding materials.
  • Infographic Design and Animation: Ability to design and create engaging infographics and animation to visually communicate complex information and data effectively.
  • Editing Skills: Strong editing skills to review and refine written content for clarity, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Branding Knowledge: Understanding of branding principles and strategies to maintain brand consistency across all communication channels.
  • Creativity: Ability to think creatively and generate innovative ideas for media campaigns, branding initiatives, and content development.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey ideas effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing media metrics and performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of media campaigns and make data-driven decisions.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong collaborative skills to work effectively within a team environment and contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives.
