Background:

The Centre for Water and Climate Adaptation (CWCA) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) currently implements several sponsored research projects and capacity-building programs. It is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher. The selected Candidate will work on some of the current projects to advance research in water resources, climate change, and sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to research in existing climate change and water resources management projects.
  • Responsible for the preparation of grant proposals and managing research projects.
  • Preparation of project reports, policy briefs, scientific articles for publication and present research findings at conferences.
  • Networking and liaison with research or project partners.
  • Contribute to teaching graduate students and assist in their research thesis.
  • Assist in organizing conferences, workshops, training courses, and similar activities.
  • Other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD (Doctorate) degree in engineering, natural, social, or environmental sciences with an emphasis on water resources and climate adaptation and proven affinity with inter- and transdisciplinary research
  • Proven track record of research with strong writing capabilities
  • Ability to convert the research work into scientific publications and policy documents
  • Experience in organizing workshops and training courses is added advantage
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office application software; proficiency in other computer applications such as hydrologic (or relevant) modeling software, GIS, and statistical tools is preferred
  • Able to conduct research independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work under time pressure and in an international multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English

Duration of Appointment:

The contract with the Candidate will be initially for one year (01 January 2024 – 31 December 2024) with the possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance.
