Introduction:

Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Business Development Officer. This position will work primarily under the supervision of the Vice President for Knowledge Transfer and will be working cross functionally across various teams in AIT with the ultimate goal of monetizing projects, which will generate downstream revenue through a variety of contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support ongoing relationships with existing partners and where relevant, leverage those relationships to greater collective impact in coordination with other centers of AIT;
  • Conceptualize new strategic initiatives with other centers and units in AIT that could be built around or benefit from corporate, bilateral organizations or other partnerships;
  • Grow and maintain the ongoing initiatives under the office of Knowledge Transfer;
  • Develop and coordinate professional development as well as the training program;
  • Develop and manage reporting and financial tracking of activities undertaken by unit;
  • Simultaneously handle financial records, expenditures, and budget of multiple projects;
  • Manage Administrative Affairs of the unit including but not limited to:
    • Handling of all business-related internal and external communications;
    • Office internal inventory.
  • Calendar management of the Vice President for Knowledge Transfer, Strategic Partner Manager, IP and Licensing Manager;
  • Engage in day to day operation of the center to support mandate and guidelines given by AIT.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Management, Marketing, Business, or related fields
  • At least four years of experience in analyst or business development roles
  • Experience in industry, marketing and demonstrated effective communication and human relation skills required.
  • Strong analytic skills (financial, planning, operational)
  • Good problem solving, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities
  • Excellent teamwork capabilities. Especially good at getting things done, all with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent at presenting diverse information in a clear, concise manner
  • Strong relationship building skills and an entrepreneurial approach that leverages further opportunities
  • Previous university administrative or research experience, or familiarity with the university environment preferred. Work experience in a university or industry technology transfer office preferred.
  • The candidate should have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; good negotiation skills; the ability to interpret and manage numerous complex agreements; the ability to manage and coordinate multiple and diverse projects simultaneously through to completion; be highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a team environment and can establish priorities.

He/she must be able to work independently, communicate in English effectively and be available to fulfill the needs of the Unit. Must be accountable, responsive and dependable, and represent AIT in a professional manner.
