Qualification:

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand seeks a qualified professional for the position of Director of Office of Student Affairs (OSA).  The candidate shall have a minimum qualification of a master’s degree, a doctorate degree holder is preferable. He/she will have five to seven years of experience in student-related services particularly in an institution of higher education, supported by knowledge of current practices in student-related services, and prior experience in developing budgets. The candidate must possess superior organizational and problem resolution skills; a caring, service, non-bureaucratic student-centric attitude; and has the ability to think “out of the box” and laterally, on tasks and issues in support of the mission of the entire Institute.

Under the supervision of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Administration, the Director is expected to:

  • Manage the operations of (a) Admissions & Scholarships/Invoicing; (b) Registry; (c) Student Affairs, and (d) Career Counseling and the coordination of Internships/Exchanges. He/she also provides guidance to the (e) Student Accommodation Unit, as well as supports all matters relating to the (f) Student Union.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance the admission procedures in accordance with the changing dynamics of educational landscape with specific attention to the latest practices, methods and tools to improve admissions outcomes.
  • Coordinate and administer student support on academic procedures, requirements, and regulations of the Institute; maintain the student information system database; OSA website; assist in issuing transcripts and degree certificates; and student IDs.
  • Coordinate all non-academic activities and concerns of students, particularly student welfare that includes: dispute mediation, gender related matters, relationships with others, balancing the demands of family and study, dealing with stress, harassment, traumatic events, coping with disabilities, and any other problem that a student may wish to seek advice on.  Also assists in the promotion of experiential learning opportunities, conducts career awareness events and job fairs for students, maintaining regular contact with potential employers for new job opportunities.
