Assistant Teacher

The position of Assistant teacher is under the direct supervision of the respective school section Coordinator. Assistant Teacher will work for the benefit of the children of AITIS. Assistant Teacher reports to and works with the Class Teacher. Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Class Teacher with the general supervision and management of the class. Assistant teacher may be asked to substitute for a class or subject teacher as requested by the Principal.

Assistant Teacher interacts with colleagues, students, administrators, and parents in a way that demonstrates commitment to AITIS Values, Mission Statement, and Educational Principles.

The AITIS working hours are from 7.30 A.M. to 4.30 P.M. The teachers are not expected to take leave during the school time.

Duties may include, but are not limited, to:

  • Supervising small group of children under the direction of the class and/ or subject teacher
  • Helping the class and/or subject teacher to mark student’s work that has an easily identifiable right or wrong answers
  • Photocopying materials for classroom use as requested by a class or subject teacher
  • Making teaching aids and assisting with the displays for class bulletin boards
  • Taking care of a class as a teacher when the class or subject teacher is not present
  • Helping a class and/or subject teacher to maintain a stimulating and tidy classroom, ensuring supplies are replenished and materials and equipment kept in good condition
  • Supervising children at recess as requested by the Principal
  • Completing other work as requested by teacher or a subject teacher and approved by the Principal

Qualifications:

  • Minimum – Bachelor’s Degree
  • Studies in the field of Pre-Primary or in Primary Education preferred
  • Experience in working with Primary School children
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Flexibility and ability to use initiative
