Qualification:

Area of Research: Energy, climate change mitigation, Smart City (target countries: ASEAN) 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. The Research Associate will assist the study on “Smart Cities in the ASEAN Region” Project Principal                 Investigator by providing technical and process support  in addressing the following objectives/activities:

 

  • conducting a need and gap analysis of how to go about  to becoming a smart city,
  • developing public-private – community protocol for smart city programs,
  • develop evidence-based policy measures to streamline the energy use through the Smart City Visions,
  • Propose strategies and policy interventions to take make a shift from BAU to low-carbon with smart technologies,
  • Study, analyze and identify data and indicators required to measure a smart city and its link to energy and possible emissions mitigation,
  • Use/application of modeling tools
  • Contributing to reports - measuring “Smartness” of a City, low carbon technologies and smartness, policy measures that consider energy use in the smart city plan, etc.

 2. The Research Associate will also contribute to the administrative management of the project and assist in             organizing workshops/meetings with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in energy/climate change or related areas, with knowledge on energy issues, estimation of GHG emissions of cities, emission mitigation concepts and activities, energy policy
  2. Knowledge on smart city concept, ICT for improving resource efficiency,  for providing improved energy services, and towards a low carbon path
  3. Ability to work with various stakeholders
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reports and journal article
