Qualification:
VICE PRESIDENT FOR KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand seeks a visionary professional for the position of Vice President for Knowledge Transfer (VPKT) who is motivated to join a graduate education institution about to embark on a re-positioning by promoting innovation and entrepreneurial practices into its education and research.  The Vice President for Knowledge Transfer will be a member of the Institute’s senior leadership team and shall report directly to the President.

The successful VPKT will be the key person for driving innovation, commercialization, industrial relations and entrepreneurship at AIT.  Candidates should have sufficient experience in enterprises and entrepreneurship, vast industry networks and possess the ability to develop strong business relationships with the corporate sector, as well as understand how to work with students and faculty on business start-ups. The goal is to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship at AIT and to improve collaboration with industry by assuming the following essential roles:

  • Leading AIT’s effort to work closely with the external community, including government and NGOs, but especially the enterprise sector, to make AIT more relevant to the commercial world.
  • Setting up a system at AIT which assists faculty in commercializing their research by supervising a new Office of Technology Transfer on policy, and by starting and running a new Entrepreneurship Center.
  • Working closely with the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Deans on ensuring that the curriculum also prepares AIT graduates to be more connected to the business sector through innovation and cooperation with enterprises—for example, via student internships and co-ops and research collaboration.

Candidate must be academically well-qualified, possessing: a Doctoral degree in business or a related field from an accredited institution; exemplary achievement in entrepreneurship or outstanding achievement in the business world; strong communication and interpersonal capabilities to enable collaboration across the AIT campus, with our alumni, and with international networks. Candidate should possess a good understanding of the academic world, but experience as a top executive in a business would be an asset.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) promotes technological change and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region through higher education, research and outreach. Established in 1959, AIT is an autonomous, international postgraduate institution situated 42km north of central Bangkok. Faculty, researchers, staff and students come from around 45 countries and form a unique international community.  Students are admitted to its three schools: Engineering and Technology; Environment, Resources and Development; and Management. AIT has graduated more than 20,000 alumni who have assumed leadership positions in government, academia, businesses, and regional and international organizations and institutions in more than 100 countries around the world.

AIT offers a salary that is regionally competitive, commensurate with academic merit and experience.  Attractive fringe benefits are offered. Interested applicants are requested to please send (1) a letter of application, including curriculum vitae (detailing qualifications and experience), (2) a one-page professional statement describing goals and aspirations and how you fit for this position, and (3) names, affiliations, addresses, emails  and telephone numbers of three referees.

These should be submitted no later than 30 November 2018 to:
