Program Officer (Agriculture, Resources and Environment)

AIT Extension is recruiting a Program Officer (Level V) for its Agriculture, Resources & Environment (ARE) Program. Candidates having strong enthusiasm on working in this program are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.

AIT Extension contributes to the development of the region through continuing professional education, training and consultancy services. It works with professionals in national governments, state government, overseas development agencies, multilateral agencies, development institutions, private sectors, investment banks, consultants and NGOs. Over the past three decades, AIT Extension has offered short courses to some 31,000 professionals from more than 70 countries around the world.

Job Description:

ARE Program’s training and consulting services focus on sustainable and organic production systems, food processing and post-harvest technology, food safety and quality control, biosecurity and environmental protection, value chain management, agri-business development, certification etc. The services covering environment and natural resources management provide opportunities for professionals from all sectors in identifying solutions on critical environmental issues, developing capacity and skills on sustainable utilization of natural resources, and uplifting knowledge on how to deal with overarching problems exerted through climate change and disasters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Program Officer, Program Specialist and Course Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs
  • Assist in developing competitive proposals and designing training curricula and training plans
  • Assist in the development of training tools, modules and manuals together with other implementing partners and team members.
  • Identify and liaise with resource persons
  • Selecting relevant organizations to visits, study visit project sites and leading the study visits
  • Schedule training activities and programs and coordinate and conduct of training programs, including management of the day-to-day activities
  • Facilitate learning process and coordinate with participants regarding technical aspect of the course
  • Prepare internal budget of training courses and monitor financial disbursements of training projects
  • Assist in the development of case studies and training materials as necessary
  • Liaise with key regional contacts to facilitate training program implementation in respective countries through various meetings and other modes of communication as necessary
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of junior staff
  • Prepare training program evaluation and completion reports
  • Prepare final reports and summary articles regarding training courses
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Officer, Program Specialist and Course Director

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant fields: Agricultural Systems and Engineering, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Energy Policy, Planning and Economics, Environmental Engineering and Management, Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology, Natural Resources Management, Urban Environmental Management or Water Resources Management.
  • At least three years working experience
  • At least one year of working experience in environment related field is preferred
  • Working knowledge on water-energy-food nexus related programs/projects is preferred
  • Working knowledge on natural resources management related programs/projects is preferred
  • Good command of written and spoken English,  must have a minimum TOEIC score of 550
  • Excellent computer and IT skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural working environment
  • Able to frequently travel locally and regionally.
