Qualification:

Area: Rural Livelihoods & Extension

The research project “Strengthening institutional capacity, extension services and rural livelihoods in the Central Dry Zone and Ayeyarwaddy Delta regions of Myanmar” runs 2013-2017 and aims at assessing livelihoods, improving extension and building capacity among Myanmar’s agricultural research institutions. With a geographic focus on the Central Dry Zone and the Ayeyarwaddy Delta, the project works, both, at the community level in these areas as well as institutionally with Myanmar national extension and research providers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct research visits
  • Project management, including financial reporting and liaising with AITs project office
  • Coordination of research activities among project partners in Myanmar
  • Communication and cooperation with research team at AIT
  • Conduct structured, semi-structured, and narrative interviews
  • Data collation and analysis
  • Report and documentation
  • Literature reviews

Profile:

  • Myanmar (Burmese) native speaker
  • Previous research experience (minimum 3 years)
  • M.A./M.Sc. in related field
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written
  • Flexible and willing to learn
  • Experience with working under deadlines
  • Able to communicate efficiently, using an array of media
  • Knowledge of Myanmar in- country partners (YAU, DAR, DoA)
