The Global Water and Sanitation Center, a newly established center at AIT aims to expedite and support WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) strategy in Asia and beyond by leveraging funding from governments, international financing institutions & other development partners. 

The center is hosting global water and sanitation initiatives, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, such as City-wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) Scaling Hub - an initiative / platform to provide assistance to governments, development banks & other development partners in the planning, designing, scaling and implementation of CWIS. The center is inviting application from the qualified candidates for the position of a “Project Staff”.

General Job Description and Responsibilities: 

Project staff will be responsible to provide support for CWIS Scaling hub projects. Project staff will report to and assist the Deputy COO and the Technical Coordinator in (i) building a database / global network of technical experts (ii) support in project documentation of project related information iii) identifying technical gaps and ensure CWIS compliance in TA assignments (iii) provide QA/QC support through review of assignment deliverables; and other technical aspects of the Hub iv) facilitate liaison with project relevant stakeholders, partners and clients. The responsibilities are as follows, 

  1. Work under the guidance of the COO and Dy-COO, and primarily for the projects assigned to you under your portfolio 
  2. Review project documents to identify and analyze the gaps in the project in terms of FSM, NSS and CWIS components – understanding the rationale & objective of the project; project components and support Technical Coordinator provide input for improvements
  3. Lead in developing the database/global network of experts  
  4. Provide support to the Dy-COO in developing a detailed TOR for the identified concept / project
  5. Provide support to Dy-COO to finalise the project proposals in compliance to AIT requirements and CWIS principles
  6. Assist in developing a standards operating procedure for CWIS scaling Hub
  7. Prepare project overview presentation outlining key details of the project using the GWSC templates 
  8. Support in organization of timely project meetings (weekly and monthly) together with the consultants; take meeting minutes
  9. Support in preparing weekly Management Notes - outline of progress in all portfolio projects - and present it to the Management 
  10. Continuously familiarize with FSM / CWIS tools and approaches, & appropriately address and accommodate them in Hub projects. 
  11. Work with Dy-COO and Technical Coordinator to identifying materials for development of knowledge products and disseminate the Hub networks 
  12. Provide support to Technical Coordinator to conduct technical review of project deliverables for adherence to the agreed TOR and project details 

Required Qualification: 

Education 

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a strong background in sanitation 
  • Knowledge and experience in GIS is desired

Professional experience  

  • At least 1 year of experience working in any sector 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
